Fair enough, we may all daydream about getting to that state of 'no mind' where you don't have to think about the next move because it's so well-trained that thought isn't necessary, and instinct takes over. But how many of us are there already? Yeh, not that many. So, it becomes a strategy game, a method for predicting your opponent and, in a perfect world, thinking ahead of your opponent to the point where you can direct them into the position you want. So, yeh. What are we getting at? Strategy. Like chess. But without armies and a direct, one-on-one physical challenge instead. And how many different ways does BJJ challenge? About as many ways as are possible.
