Given that BJJ has been kickin' ass and takin' names since the 1920s, in modern terms at least it really is old school, and doubly so given its origins in the more traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Okay, it can easily be argued that other martial arts were going to the ground long before BJJ, but the point we'd probably work is that, of them all, BJJ seems to be one of the few that set out to be based on the ground game, not just having it as an element among many. Focussing on the ground, with the take-down game as a secondary concern, essentially only as a means of getting an opponent to the ground, tells us that the ground was the whole deal. Could be wrong here, though - share your thoughts? We rambled. Back to the shirt: Original Groundfighter. It's a BJJ thing.
