Vale Tudo teeshirts: Rolling With The PunchesGiven that Vale Tudo rose out of Brazilian style jiu jitsu, we thought we'd add a shirt (and more over time) to give it some recognition. So, first of all, here are the BJJTshirts.com 'Rolling with the punches Vale Tudo shirt', available in a variety of colours through our online store. Why 'rolling with the punches'? Well, it's pretty much another no-brainer: vale tudo is brazilian for, roughly 'anything goes' and is the name for their no-rules tournaments, in which - surprise - you can end up on the ground, BJJ style, getting punched in the head. Clear now? Good. As for vale tudo, this might be interesting as a slice of the Brazilian perspective: we had a vale tudo tournament on dvd a while back, and every competitor in it was billed not up-front as a BJJ guy, but in their individual martial arts. That covered nearly everything: kung fu, hapkido, muay thai and more. Thing is, every single one of them knew the ground game. Every one of them was schooled in BJJ. Dunno about you guys, but it made us think. And, on the vale tudo teeshirt itself: distressed typeface with a bevel on it, just to fatten it up a bit, and blood in the background because of the 'beaten up on the ground' side of things. The slogan's in there as well, of course - Rolling With The Punches - but we made Vale Tudo the thrust of this particular shirt.
